Cummington Fair

Time for the annual Cummington Fair! Cummington is a few towns over, situated on Route 9 and the Swift River.

It's a very small fair actually, as far as fairs go. But it is as genuine as a fair can be. We found these locals hanging out in the first barn.

Too bashful for picture taking. But very pretty nonetheless.

The demolition derby! No fair is complete without one. When it was actually going on, this hillside was so packed you could not even squeeze in. Who knew such a thing was so popular? I had no idea.

One of my favorite rides!

The newly discovered "sport" feature on my camera freezes action shots.

Brandon and I are convinced the motorcycles on this ride are the exact same ones they had when we were little kids at different fairs in different states. We were glad they are still being put to good use.

Naturally, we had to check out all the chickens and rabbits and pigeon barns to see who was who in the small animal world. This guy kept crowing even though it was 9 o'clock at night.

We saw all the food that won all the prizes too. I guess there are eggs and then there are eggs!

The oxen pull! These two were rather naughty, refusing to line up correctly. The guy in charge of them (in blue) was the very definition of the word patient. He tried 5 or 6 times to line them up. Finally they got in position properly and started dragging the load. I think it was 7500 pounds.

Almost bedtime for these guys!

A perfectly sparkling evening!

 Until next time!

Looks like you had a good time! I'll have to keep an eye out for our local Acton Fair. I love seeing the kids with the 4-H animals.
