I call my horse Lilly "Brumby" as a term of endearment. But I didn't make the word up! In Australia a wild horse is called a brumby or brumbie. The word derives from the name of a Major William Brumby, an early 19th century settler from England who was a noted breeder of horses. Through the years a large number of his stock escaped and became feral. Another possible origin of the word-Booramby, Aborigine for wild.
Late afternoon yesterday after a whole day of snowfall, I managed to maneuver the Corolla over to Lilly's. She's back out in the pasture and barely limping at all! The snow is quite deep and keeps her exit wound nice and clean.
And you can see that the terrible swelling has gone down. As for getting her turbo winter shoes on, we'll just have to wait and see about that. She'll be fine for now with no shoes.
Wooohoo! Looks like Lilly is on the road to recovery. As for the shoes, have you ever considered buying her Easyboots? That would keep the snow out of her feet and give her tons of traction. Plus, you wouldn't have to put shoes on her They're expensve, but last for years and years. Just a thought. Cheers!
