Today was a beautiful day so Christine and I headed over to ride! I set up a bunch of my new cones to trot around. A new sort of Coney Island! As much as I like these cones, I need to get bigger ones. These are so small that they are easily trampled as the horses clippity clop around them.
Ready.....
Set.....
Umm, SET........
GO!!!!
You may observe that for the first time since December, I am not wearing my puffy pants!!!!
The cones are so small you can't see them in any of these pictures. You can see them easier in all the video clips Brandon shot, except that in each clip, Lilly's head is out so far, she looks like the antithesis of collection, so I am not posting them. But that's why I like watching the videos! Now I know that even though I thought Lilly was decently collected, her head was strung out to Timbuktu. Brandon actually called her a giraffe. Get it together, Rider!
Christine and I were doing serpentine patterns opposite each other, and this was very helpful, and also really fun. This gets the horses concentrating on moving left and right, gets me employing Boob Rule, and is just an all around excellent learning exercise. Plus, I think Lilly likes it. She was twitchy in the ring at first, but then settled in and was a very good brumby.
It was pretty windy in the ring.
But not so bad that we couldn't ride. (Note the microscopic yellow cone!)
Remember last week end when Jackie asked Bill to ride Pokey because he was giving her a hard time? I forgot I had a few action shots from that day!
Who doesn't love an action shot??
I'll be back tomorrow! Hope everyone had a good ride today!

Coney Island looks like fun!
Ha - Coney Island :) Are those the "circus" cones?!
Sounds like you had a great ride. We've only worked on maneuvers with another horse once - we're thinking it would be fun to do a pas de deux... the best part was how it got my head in the right place - my riding seemed to improve :) Fun!
Those cones are great! I love doing new schooling work with tools!
What a great activity. I like your "Coney Island". But for some reason, between the cones and the "boob rule" I'm reminded of those Fembots from the Austin Powers movies. :-)
Great actions shots. You could use some poles or barrels. Those cones could only be islands for ants. hehe!
Your Brumby looks like she's having a great time.
Yay for days without puffy pants!
