Comings and Goings

At a farm right down the road from me there are 7 new baby cows. Although a baby cow really isn't that small, they do look extra spindly. Sometimes they cavort around the pasture. But in the morning when I walk by, they are napping while their mums gobble up hay. They are so cute.

New life is always fun to see.

Lately when I come home from work it is still so warm, Getty and I will take a short walk to an old cemetery a few steps from our house. Here is the road to get there. It's hidden away in the woods.

Some of the tombstones are old, some are really old, and a few are brand new. The name on one has been clumsily carved by hand.

It may seem a little creepy...but they are also beautiful in their own way. And sad. But then not so sad.

It doesn't seem like such a bad resting place at all. Back in the woods. Surrounded by mosses and old trees.

Brandon loves that this woman's name appears to be Experience.

Uh-oh. This is the trouble with marble tombstones. They crumble when they get old & tired and topple over.

Getty loves the cemetery because one of her best friends Ruby lives next door. Ruby is a big dog who could probably rip a grown man to shreds. But she plays very gently with Getty. They are very dear friends. I hope it is not disrespectful to let your dog frolic in a cemetery.

Coming up next: weekend weather to die for!

Babies!! I just want to squeeze them up!

There are some pretty old cemeteries here too, but the tombstones are short and fat - quite the opposite of yours. Someone has been stealing them recently, if you can believe that. apparently there is a black market for them...

Enjoy your lovely weekend. :)

I love that photo of Getty playing with her best friends.

I've said this before on my blog, I think cemeteries and golf courses should be open to riding and playing puppies and walkers and runners as long as everyone is careful. They are the most beautiful places and I am not some dark person who digs cemeteries. They are always a breath of nature even in a city!
