A Heart for Winter

Saturday, February 9, 2013

Welcome to the snowglobe! Last night we got two feet of snow. I think people in Connecticut got a lot more. I went to work on Friday and by 1pm, everyone had gone home. Including me. Once home we waited for the weather to descend. People got out their generators. People stockpiled water. I went to the grocery store to stock up on carrots and they were SOLD OUT. (It's a good thing that people around here want to keep their brumbies happy during a blizzard.)

At 7 am this morning when I took Getty out, Brandon's car was barely visible! Dude, where's my car?

Aaahhhh, dear woodpile. Where would we be without you? Don't leave us too soon! We have miles to go before the Spring!

Later, after digging out the car, we headed over to see Lilly. It was aggressively windy over at Bill's. And very cold. The weather conditions, for reasons unknown to me, is always much worse at Bill's. Yesterday Bill had moved all the horses and the donkeys to the near pasture. Which was smart, because on Saturday, even after an entire morning of plowing, the road to the BP could only accommodate the 4 wheeler. To see a video Bill made this morning while plowing, follow this link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2klYROJkT3o. I love how my brumby is featured in this clip, kicking her dear little legs out.
And if I were ever to worry that any of the horses were not getting Bill's tender loving care in the middle of the night during a blizzard, then this video is proof I need not be giving it a second thought: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wzq7_YFrugQ (I personally find this video hilarious.)

By 2pm today  the sky was blue and the sun was out. There I go down to collect my brumby!

Oh! A brumby in the wintertime! Still wonderful.

Oh WOWZA! That's a lot of snow! The car vanished! lol!
Getty's expression is so funny!. Getty is soooo over the snow! haha!
O.M.Gosh! Bill's videos cracked me up.
"It's beautiful out there. 15 degrees...." um yeah, that's cause you're in that nice warm cozy tank tractor! hehe!
And the night time equine peep hole video. Too funny! I've seen many a snowman, but I don't think I've ever seen a snow donkey before!
Bill talking was the funniest part, though.

Thanks for the smiles!

ps, that last photo is sweet!!

Sleet, rain ,hail nor blizzards shall keep us from our steeds. That snow drift in front of my barn this morn ~ sure gave me a run for my money though. Nice of Bill to treck out to the field in that weather last night with his horse (and donkey) spy cam! My barn is but a stones throw from our house and I had a hard time getting that far out in the eye of the storm. ~ of course it was the most fun in the barn. Nice to see you all made it through the blizzards so well !

Good for Bill! My barn is 8 miles away, and if I didn't have 4WD I'd never have made it! I actually thought about dragging out my winter sleeping bag (good to minus 20) and staying at the barn. But winter isn't over yet, and I just may do that!
Great shot of you and your brumby.:)
