Ride a Horse, Ride the Sky!

Monday, October 25, 2010

I'm lucky to have this week off! Brandon doesn't take as much vacation time as I do, so this week I can devote a little bit of each day (weather permitting) to hanging out with my brumby amid the color and glory of October.

This morning I got up, made a plan to meet Jackie and Christine for a trail ride, and went over to the barn at 1230. Here's what was going on there. A whole lot of nothin!

Bill snapped this picture of us right as we were heading out.

Jackie is riding Pokey, her favorite horse ever. Since Bill has him up in the near pasture by the house, she said she'd like to get a trail ride in before Pokey disappears to the Big Pasture again. I confess, Pokey has always been one of my faves too. I love that he has zebra stripes on his legs and a big ole stripe down his back. Here we are at the trail head.

It was magical out in the woods with the leaves, the colors and the golden carpet at our feet.

Later in the day Jackie saw Brandon at the store in town. She told him she had "the best day!" It is always nice to be with someone who appreciates riding just as much as we do.

Look who we ran into out on the trail: Bill and Yogi! Bill was riding Yogi down to the Blueberry pasture.

I keep trying to get Jackie to BUY Pokey!! I know she loves him enough to buy him. They are a good pair.

It is always nice to have some canine companionship on the trail....even if Lilly does not always agree with that statement!

Back at the barn, Bill showed up on Feddie. Bill and CC are always riding one horse down to one of the big pastures, and coming back on another.
Tomorrow, we have another trail ride planned!

What a gorgeous fall day. I am so glad you have this week off work. Looks like you are making the most of it. I love how happy your dogs look in the photos - a good sign of how happy the owners are too! What a life up there at Bear River Horse Farm. The leaves and trails look so pretty and I am certain they are even more brilliant on the back of a brumby as lovely as Lilly!

I love the group photo of you guys before your trail and the last one of Bill w/ Freddie. It's like Freddie is mimicking Bill's calm mood. :)
