Merry Christmas, Every One!

Today is Christmas! I am giving myself an opportunity to write a blog entry today; I have been so overwhelmed lately with our furnace woes that all of my free time has been gobbled up by fretting about it. But, the good news is that I think that it is almost resolved! YEAY! The bad news is I haven't had as much horse time in the last two weeks.

Later today we are going to our friends' who live up the road. They are technically Jewish, but they always do a little Christmas something. But before we head over there, Brandon and I took a hike with Getty. A dog needs Christmas too!

Oops, looks like I beheaded my husband on Christmas. It was cold outside but really very pretty. While out in the woods I always gather kindling...kind of like a little old lady in a fairytale gathering sticks for some witchy brew. Brandon thinks my need to gather kindling is ridiculous. By the time we get home I always have an armload. But believe me, my kindling makes firestarting in the woodstove a piece of cake. And who doesn't like cake?

Last weekend I was not able to ride Saturday, but I did make a plan to ride on Sunday with Christine.

When I arrived at Bill's that day, this is what greeted me as I walked up the driveway. I see this cow every time I am at Bill's. She is not a scary creature....EXCEPT when you see her and you are fooled into thinking there is no electric line between her and you. Then she suddenly seems much scarier. There is an electric fence here, but I really couldn't see it. And for a second, my heart skipped a beat. I thought it was going to be Pamplona, Bear River Horse Farm style.

In any case, Sunday was really special because I haven't ridden with Christine for months and now that her semester is over she was able to come over and ride horses. It was like a Christine celebration!

It was also great to be back on the trail with QTee. Bill has been doing groundwork with her so she stays in shape, but I don't think she had been out on the trail in a long time. Christine said she was like a little rocket. She must have been excited to have Christine back.

When we were about home, QTee snapped her rein. We were going to invent a new rein with Lilly lead rope, but decided just to walk since QTee was being so wild. Sometimes I think walking alongside Lilly is just as nice as riding her.

Merry Christmas, everyone.

I'm cracking up at "Pamplona, Bear River Horse Farm style."

Having furnace woes here too... good thing it hasn't been a necessity for us so far. Glad you could make time for some riding!

Merry Christmas to you and your family - human and non - and best wishes for a healthy, happy New Year!

So glad you got to ride and walk in the woods and every such thing! Sorry to hear about the furnace mishap, but glad it is all good now.

Merriest Christmas to you and the Bear River Gang!

Such a nice walk in the woods, even without your brumby--and I love the part about gathering kindling. The ex-counselor in me makes me neurotic about having dry firewood. So I'm always picking up "kindling from heaven" that drops from the trees and stacking tons of wood by the fire. John, like Brandon, laughs at me, but on a stormy night, snug by the fire, he's grateful! :)
Merry Christmas!

It’s perfectly understandable that a furnace problem would overwhelm and keep you occupied for a time. No one would want to spend winter and Christmas waking up sick with flu because of the extremely cold weather. So, it’s a good thing you had yours fixed right away. Good day!
